Contactless Radar Measurement for Industrial Tanks
FoxRadar (Gen 4) uses 60 GHz radar sensing technology to measure tank fill levels without direct contact with stored liquids — water, diesel, heating oil, lubricants, and AdBlue. Designed for commercial and industrial distributors managing tanks in the field at scale.
Why accurate sensing matters
- Inaccurate or unstable tank level data leads to incorrect service timing, unnecessary deliveries, and missed service windows
- Reliable data enables predictable planning cycles and fewer emergency interventions
- Without consistent measurement, planning becomes reactive rather than structured
- FoxRadar Gen 4 provides the stable data layer that makes forecasting usable in practice
Core Capabilities
Measurement & Hardware
- Covers the full range of standard above-ground and underground tanks without product contact
- 60 GHz radar with obstacle detection — reliable data across all standard liquid types including water, diesel, heating oil, lubricants, and AdBlue
- Weatherproof for outdoor, underground, and industrial deployment — IP68 rated
- Built-in tilt sensor ensures accurate readings regardless of installation angle
- On-device display for instant on-site level checks without opening the app
Connectivity & Power
- Multi-network connectivity adapts to any site infrastructure — NB-IoT, LTE-M, 2G, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth
- Integrated eSIM eliminates SIM card logistics across large fleets
- Long battery life keeps maintenance cycles low — even for remote or hard-to-reach installations
- All data flows directly to FoxPortal for consumption-based forecasting and refill planning
Installation
- Adjustable sensor head rotates during setup for optimal radar alignment on any tank configuration
- Ships with four thread adapters and an adhesive option — fits virtually any tank opening
Where FoxRadar Gen 4 Fits
FoxRadar Gen 4 is the default sensing approach for most standard tank installations.
- Standard above-ground and underground liquid storage tanks
- Fuel, lubricant, and industrial liquid portfolios (water, diesel, heating oil, lubricants, AdBlue)
- Multi-site distributor networks requiring standardised monitoring
- Environments where contactless, non-invasive measurement is preferred
- Tanks with viable mounting positions and clear radar line-of-sight
Ideal Use Cases
- Standard above-ground and underground liquid storage tanks — diesel, heating oil, lubricants, AdBlue, water
- Multi-site distributor networks requiring standardised, contactless level monitoring
- Environments where non-invasive measurement is preferred or required
- Tanks with viable mounting positions and clear radar line-of-sight
Deployed in the real world

FoxRadar Gen 4 · Heating Oil

FoxRadar Gen 4 · Heating Oil

FoxRadar Gen 4 · Heating Oil, Steel Tank
Deployment Requirements
- Measurement range: 7–300 cm
- Requires a viable mounting position on the tank
- Requires clear radar line-of-sight to the liquid surface
When to Use a Different Sensor
FoxRadar Gen 4 is not the right choice in all scenarios. Consider an alternative when:
- Tank geometry prevents stable radar measurement — e.g. internal cross-bracing, T-piece installations, or narrow/deep tanks (→ use FoxPressure Gen 4)
- There is no viable mounting position for accurate radar measurement
- The installation environment requires ATEX/IECEx certified hardware (→ use Pressure EX)
- The tank has an existing mechanical gauge to be digitised (→ use FoxHall or Hall Pro)
Role Within the FoxInsights System
- Real-time level data collection across all connected tanks
- Data transmission to FoxPortal for consumption analysis
- Supports consumption-based forecasting and predictive service timing
- Structured planning support across multi-site distributor operations
FoxRadar (Gen 4) does not execute routing, dispatch, or delivery decisions.
Integrated with FoxPortal
- Portfolio-wide visibility
- Forecast-based service timing
- Structured delivery planning insight
